SMS Notification Service — Terms & Conditions

By enrolling in the University of South Florida College of Education SMS Notification Service, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before completing your registration.

1. Service Description

The USF College of Education SMS Notification Service delivers informational text messages to enrolled participants regarding academic matters including, but not limited to: advising appointment reminders, course registration deadlines, certification and licensure testing reminders, college events and announcements, forms, surveys, and student support resources.

2. Consent to Receive Messages

By completing the opt-in registration form and checking the consent checkbox, you expressly consent to receive recurring automated SMS/text message notifications from the University of South Florida College of Education at the mobile phone number you provide. This consent is governed by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and applicable CTIA guidelines.

Consent is not a condition of enrollment or participation in any University of South Florida program, course, or service.

3. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on academic calendar events and program activities. You may receive approximately 5 to 10 messages per month. During peak periods such as registration, advising season, or certification deadlines, frequency may temporarily increase.

4. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Standard messaging rates charged by your wireless carrier will apply to all messages sent and received. The University of South Florida College of Education is not responsible for any fees charged by your wireless carrier. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your messaging plan.

5. Supported Carriers

This service is compatible with most major U.S. wireless carriers including, but not limited to: AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless, Metro by T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and others. Carrier support may vary. The College is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. How to Opt Out

You may cancel your enrollment in the SMS Notification Service at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive. After sending STOP, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent to your number.

To re-enroll after opting out, return to the registration page and complete the opt-in form again.

7. How to Get Help

For assistance with the SMS service, reply HELP to any message, or contact us directly at unal@usf.edu. You may also visit usf.edu/education for general College of Education information.

8. Eligibility

This service is available to currently enrolled USF students, faculty, staff, and other individuals affiliated with the USF College of Education. By registering, you represent that you are the authorized user of the mobile phone number provided and that you are 18 years of age or older, or have obtained parental or guardian consent.

9. Accuracy of Information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information at the time of registration. If your mobile phone number changes, you should opt out of the service and re-register with your new number. The University is not responsible for messages delivered to an incorrect or reassigned number due to inaccurate registration information.

10. Limitation of Liability

The SMS Notification Service is provided on an "as available" basis. The University of South Florida College of Education makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the reliability, timeliness, or completeness of messages delivered through this service. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the University shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of or inability to use this service, including delayed, misdirected, or undelivered messages.

11. Modifications

The University of South Florida College of Education reserves the right to modify or terminate the SMS Notification Service, or to amend these Terms & Conditions, at any time without prior notice. Continued participation in the service following any modification constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Hillsborough County, Florida.
